Whananaki Bathroom Design
WHANANAKI, NORTHLAND
Completed February 2025
The bathroom renovations called for an update in both colour and longer wearing material application.
The bathroom designs used a timeless palette that paired harmoniously with the greater house palette.
-
The brief for this beach house bathroom was centred around durability and ease of maintenance. With sandy feet, wet towels, and constant use, the space needed to withstand the elements while still feeling refined. Surfaces had to be easy to clean, hard-wearing, and capable of disguising sand and wear—without sacrificing the natural, timeless aesthetic seen throughout the rest of the home.
-
This bathroom renovation focused on longevity, function, and a seamless connection to the home’s broader palette. Walls Studio selected a textured, earthy tile that wraps the entire space—visually grounding the room while being forgiving to sand, moisture, and daily use.
A timeless tone-on-tone approach allows the natural variation of the tile to shine, while matte white tapware adds a fresh, clean-lined contrast. The result is a bathroom that’s both practical and peaceful—designed to age beautifully in a busy beachside home.
